If your system has crashed, shutdown unexpectedly or
experienced Blue Screen also called screen of death
before (BSOD) if you
makes use of Microsoft Windows, you will be
familiar with what i am illustrating.
Today i am going to share with you how to
resolve or how to avoid this problem.
This is what it is called “Fatal error”, most
times, it happens that the technique has
become unstable or is busy,” so it might stated
that “Enter to return to Windows or press
Control-Alt-Delete to restart your computer. ”
when you do this, you will definitely lose any
unsaved work on your system.
The following are the reason why computers do crash:
1. Hardware Conflict
This is the main reason why windows crashes,
you must understand that each hardware
device on your computer communicates to each
other through an interrupt request channel
(IRQ).
Moreover, Each device on your computer
should have unique IRQ. For instance, a printer
usually connects internally on IRQ 7 and the
keyboard usually uses IRQ 1 and the floppy
disk drive IRQ 6.
Sometimes a tool might share an IRQ with
certain thing described as ‘IRQ holder for PCI
steering ‘.
The best technique to solve this issue is to
remove the tool & reinstall it. Sometimes you
need to update drivers to make the tool operate
well. A nice resource is http://
download.cnet.com/windows/drivers.
If there are plenty of devices, or in the event
that they are not installed correctly, each of
them may finish up sharing the same IRQ
number. When the you tries to make use of both
devices simultaneously, a crash can occur.
One best method to assure if your computer
has a hardware conflict is through the following
route:
Click Start >>Settings>>Control
Panel>>System-Device Manager.
Regularly if a tool has a controversy a yellow ‘!’
appears next to its description in the Tool
Manager. Highlight Computer (in the Tool
Manager) & press Properties to see the IRQ
numbers used by your computer. If the IRQ
number appears two times, devices may be
using it.
2. BIOS Settings
BIOS is another point, every motherboard is
supplied with a range of chip set settings that
come from the factory. A simple technique to
access these settings is to press the F2 or F8
delete button in the process of boot-up depending
On your pc. Check when your system is booting up
What it write to know exactly the key to press.
3. Hard Disk
This is another tip you should know on your
computer, your informations, your datas, file
and installations on you hard disk drive always
become fragmented after a month. It is very
neccessary and advisable for you to
defragment the hard disk every two (2) weeks.
This will prevent your hard disk from causing a
screen freeze.
To do this: Click on Start from your
taskbar>>Programs>>Accessories>>System
Tools>>Disk Defragmenter.
Note : During the process of defragment, it is not
recommended for you to write data to the hard
drive while the disk is defragmenting, so it is a
good idea to schedule the process for a period
of inactivity using the Task Scheduler.
Moreover, Hard disks always slow down and
crash when is too full. So try to make free
space on your hard drive every month. Empty
your Recycle Bin every week.
Click Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>System
Tools>>ScanDisk
Otherwise you can assign the Task Scheduler
to perform this operation at night when the
computer is not in use.
4. Fatal OE exceptions and VXD errors
This problem always occur by video card on
your computer and it can be resolved by
reducing the resolution of the video display.
Follow this step:
Click Start>>Settings>>Control
Panel>>Display>>Settings
On the setting box you should slide the screen
area bar to the left
Look at the color settings on the left of that
window. If the screen freezes or you
experience system lockups it might be due to
the video card. Make sure it does not have a
hardware conflict.
5. Viruses
Antivirus must be install on your computer and
your virus defense desires constant alertness .
Your computer virus scanner needs a register
of virus definition/signature in alignment to be
adept to detect latest, new and stuborn viruses.
These definition/signature are retained in a
DAT file in your computer after installing
antivirus.
DAT files should be updated every week from
the website of your antivirus software
manufacturer. When antivirus is outdated or
expired, it will unable to detect virus and it can
lead to crash.
6. Overheating/hotness
Your CPUs are equipped with fans to keep them
cool. If the fan stop working or CPU is old it
may start to overheat and create a particular
kind of error called a kernel error, so keep your
fan working or get a new one if it stop working.
Also avoid placing your system directing on the
Floor, always place on a hard surface e.g hard books,
Tables and avoid placing on rugs, clothes and bed._
7. Software
A malfunction sofwares that installed on your
computer is a frequent reason of computer
crash, while the problem can be solved by
uninstalling the software and reinstalling it,
Advanced Uninstaller is the best option to
perform the operation. This will delete all junks
and applications related to the particular
software from your computer perfectly.
Because System Registry can be corrupted by
those references to obsolete software that you
thought was uninstalled,
You can as well use Ccleaner to clean up the
System Registry and remove all the obsolete
entries on your computer.
Note : becareful by following the instructions so
that you don’t harm the Registry because If the
Registry is broken you will need to reinstall
your operating system.
8. Power Pack problems
Your system power pack can crash a computer
as simply as a power failure. If this has become
a problem for you then the best option is for
you to buy an uninterrupted power supply
(UPS). This will give you priviledge to perform a
controlled shutdown in case of a power failed.
9. Faulty Random Access Memory (RAM)
The RAM play a vital role in the system processing
data. If your RAM is damaged or malfunctioning
a replacement is needed. When your system become
slower processing data, loading softwares that should
not take long, that means your RAM needs to be changed
or increased.
