Top 10 Useful Android Tips And Tricks

Android devices provide users with lots of options. Are you knew to android or old user
but still struggles with lot of tins on your android phone, I will show you few tips
and tricks to get you going on smooth on your devices.
In this tutorial I will be focusing on android devices and note that the
steps may vary slight on your android devices due to differences in Operating System OS,
but you are free to play around with.



1. Disable Mobile Data

If you don't need to stayed connected to internet say like while you want to sleep
or for any other reason that suits you best, switching off your mobile data is
the perfect solution.
It helps to keep smartphone battery from draining without use. Turn off data
easily through :
  • Go to Settings >> Data Usage.
  • Disable Mobile data by clicking the box from ON to OFF.

2. Set Mobile Data Limit 

Mobile data limit allows you to keep track of your data usage and also to know when
monthly data plan is almost exhausted. Set the limit through the following steps below :
  • Go to Settings >> Data usage.
  • Set your data limit by dragging the orange line to reflect your monthly quota.
  • Set your data usage cycle based on when your "month" starts and ends, and you’re done.

You will get alert once your data usage reaches the limit you set.

3. Changing Default Apps 

Getting annoyed when a particular application opens up whenever you
want to do anything say opening firefox for all web links. I have a easy way for you to
fix it, change this by :
  • Navigate to Settings >> Apps.
  • Swipe right and look for the All tab.
  • Select the app you want to remove as default.
  • Tap on Clear defaults.

4. Stop Notification For Apps

Apps notification can be frustrating at times and it also drains smartphone
battery fast. you wish to disable it:
  • On any of your unwanted notifications in your notification bar, long press 
          on the notification for a message box to appear.
  • Click on App Info >> Untick Show Notifications >> OK.

5. Checking For Android System Updates 

Android users that are using Stock ROM, you may want to look for

new updates to your system. To check for updates: 


  • Go to Settings >> About Phone

  • Click on System Updates

  • Tap check now to see if there is any system updates

6. Disable Animation 

For your android device to run faster and conserve battery, you will need to disable 
animations. You will need to have access to Developer Options which can be 
found under Settings >> About device.
Under enabled Developer options, look for Window animation scale,  
Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale
Then, disable them one at a time.

7. Add Multiple Google Accounts

Do you have more than one google account and you want to have access to them
all at once? I will show you how you can do it easily today :
  • Go to Settings >> Account & Sync or Add Account.
  • Select Google and setup your New or Existing Google account.
  • Once added, choose what you want to sync with the account.

Repeat the steps above to add more Google Accounts.

8. Disable Automatic Apps Updates

I prefer to update my applications manually and if you do also then
you need to disable your automatic apps updates.
See steps below :
  • Open Play Store and head over to Settings.
  • Click on Auto-update apps.
  • Choose Do not auto-update apps.

Note if you want to enable automatic apps updates just
follow the same steps above and choose Auto-update apps at any time
or via Wi-Fi (available for certain Android devices only).

9. How to Turn Off Auto-Correction

Be the master of your android device by turning off auto-correction mode.
Control what you type and send through :
  • Go to Settings > Language & input.
  • Click on the settings icon next to the keyboard that you are using, 
          e.g. Google Keyboard.
  • Look for Auto-correction and click on it.
  • Select Off to turn auto-correction off.

10. Restrict Background Data 

Reduce data consumption on your smartphone by setting
some apps not to work unless opened. Restrict background data
of apps through :
  • Go to Settings >> Data Usage.
  • scrolled down to see apps underneath and there
         varoius data used for the month.
  • Tap on anyone you want to restrict the background data.
  • Scroll down and tap the box infront of Restrict
          background data.
